LAHORE: The Pakistan Anti Narcotics Force seized narcotics weighing 175 kilogrammes and worth Rs 58 million in the international market in nine operations carried out at Attock, Lahore, DI Khan, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Karachi.
The ANF also arrested 15 persons involved in drug smuggling and seized seven vehicles. The recovered drugs included 164.3 kilogrammes of hashish and 11.3 kg of heroin.
According to ANF officials, the Rawalpindi ANF in
tercepted a car near Burhan Interchange, GT Road, At
tock and recovered 10.8 kg of hashish after a search of the car. Two drug peddlers, Muhammad Siraj and Sardar Khan, residents of Peshawar, were arrested during the operation.
In another operation, the Rawalpindi ANF arrested a motorcyclist identified as Qarar Ahmed, resident of Attock, while he was travelling near Shahan Chowk, Attock Basal Road, At
tock and confiscated 1.5 kg of hashish from his possession. The accused was involved in supplying drugs at a local level.
The Lahore ANF Airport team detained a suspected passenger identified as Muhammad Asif, resident of Gujranwala, at Allama Iqbal International Airport and confiscated three kilogrammes of heroin concealed i
n his luggage. The accused was travelling to the Netherlands via Doha on Qatar Airline Flight No. QR-821.
In another operation, Lahore ANF, during a routine checking near Kot Abdul Malik Motorway Interchange, in
tercepted a car and arreste
d Raheel Abbasi, resident of Rawalpindi and Waqar Ali, resident of Karachi after discovering five kilogrammes of hashish in their car.
The Peshawar ANF in
tercepted a Hino Truck near PSO Petrol Pump, Chashma Road, DI Khan. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of
130 kg of hashish concealed inside the body of the truck. A person on board, namely Mir Muhammad resident of Attock, was arrested on the spot.
In another operation, Peshawar ANF, while in
tercepting a car near Motorway Chowk, Ring Road, recovered 15 kg of hashish. Three people, identified as Ali Khan, Ahmed Khan and Noor Nabi, residents of Khyber Agency, were also arrested during the operation.
Karachi ANF also arrested three drug peddlers and recovered a quantity of drugs.
Cases have been registered at the respective ANF Stations under CNS Act 1997 and further investigations are underway.
