LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Information Secretary Amirul Azeem said that PEMRA’s silence over the closure of the TV channels Neo, Sachh and
Din News, despite strong countrywide protests by all polit
ical parties and journalistic circles, was the height of stub
bornness.
In a brief statement on Tuesday, he said that the closure of any news channel would raise the threats to the freedom of the
press in the country. He called upon the government to wi
thdraw PEMRA’s powers to close any channel.
