untry. He said after steps taken by
the governme
nt to reduce corruption, the country’s economy has improved.
He was addressing a seminar arranged in connection with International Anti-Corruption Day at Gift University, Gujranwala. RPO Ashfaq Khan, Anti-Corruption Regional Director Fareed Ahmed, MPAs Abdul Rauf Mughal, Ch Muhammad Iqbal, Taufiq Butt, Gift University Chairman Anwar Dar and officers of other departments participated in the seminar.
The commissioner said that the purpose of celebrating the day was to raise awarene
ss against corruption. The commissioner said that Punjab government has been promoting a corruption-free culture in the province and all sections of society will have to struggle together with
the government for that. Regional Director Anti-Corruption Fareed Ahmed said that according to government policy, all government institutions were being inspected and that anti-corruption department has had notable achievements in reducing corruption in government departments.
Minister sings govt’s praises: Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said that
the government has brought the country out of darkness and terrorism. He said negative voices from the opposition were not helpful for prosperity and development in the co
untry.
He said positive changes in education sector were evidence of
the government’s achievements. He said that youth should support
the government for further improvement in education and to overcome other problems being faced by Pakistan.
While addressing the annual convocation of Government Postgraduate Girls College Gujranwala, he said we should ask ourselves every day what we have done for our co
untry. He said that before PML-N took over in 2013, there were dark days in Pakistan, when the country was haunted by regular terror attacks. He said solid steps by
the government had brought peace to the co
untry. The minister lauded the achievements of the college and congratulated
the graduating students. College Principal Amira Cheema also spoke on the occasion.
Youth attacked: A youth was attacked with knives by unidentifi
ed men when he resisted a robbery, in Khiali. It was reported that Samiullah was walking home when four arm
ed men intercepted him near fruit market and snatched his mobile phone and cash. WhenSamiullah showed resistance, the arm
ed men attacked him with sharp edged knives and fled away. The injured youth was shifted to DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122 and local police started an investigation.
